Summer Frolic
Mary Douyard incorporates whimsical, stylistic elements to portray warm, simple moments of life. She studied art at Mt. Ida College and privately with her mother, Dorothy J. Ramsey, a noted Rockport artist.

As creative designer/painter for JTB/American Holidays, Mary received recognition for her unique concepts and paintings. She produced several JTB pieces for window displays at the Museum of American Folk Art Store in New York City.

Mary consigned her work in Sierra Vista, Arizona, to Country At Heart and custom designed stall signs advertised nationally in Horse and Rider Magazine. In 1995, she won best in show cash award for her reversible fireboard New England Remembered at the Huachuca Art Association Open Show. She was one of the 250 artists chosen from 2,500 applicants to participate in Sierra Vista's prestigious annual Art in the Park.

Her art touches the heart and speaks to the child within

While in South Korea in 1997-98, Douyard displayed her versatilitywhen she painted two murals for the U.S. Army Camp Red Cloud Recreational Center--a Savannah landscape for Black History month and a Jungle scene for the Year of the Tiger.

The artist's 5 x 8 foot commission, "Christmas Morning," portraying Rockport's oldest public event, now hangs in the Whistle Stop Mall Lobby. It depicts more than one hundred figures greeting Santa on Christmas morning in Dock Square with costumes, scenery and architecture that carry the viewer gleefully and colorfully across a century.

Mary lives in Rockport , Massachusetts , with her family. Her work is exhibited at the Michael Stoffa Gallery.
